The North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced today that HHS Deputy Commissioner Sara Stolt has been selected to participate in the 2023 Council of State Governments (CSG) Henry Toll Fellowship.
The Toll Fellowship brings together 47 individuals representing 29 of the states and U.S. territories and from all branches of state government and is considered the nation’s premier leadership development program for state government officials.
“Sara has demonstrated a strong commitment to growing as a leader within the state, participating in key projects, partnering with the governor’s office on strategic initiatives, and working to drive change, not just in HHS but across agencies within the state,” North Dakota Office of the Governor Chief of Staff Jace Beehler said. “A servant leader, Sara reflects our Team ND values to empower people, improve lives, and inspire success.”
There are more than 1,350 graduates of the Toll Fellowship, including five state/territorial house speakers, three sitting state supreme court justices, 10 sitting members of Congress, five sitting governors and more than 200 Toll alumni currently serving as state/territorial legislators.
Toll Fellows are nominated by their peers and selected by the program’s alumni. The program spans one year, beginning Aug. 1, and includes an intense four-day leadership boot camp in Lexington, Kentucky. The 2023 Toll Fellowship graduation ceremony will take place during the 2023 CSG National Conference on Dec. 6-9, in Raleigh, North Carolina.
